This is one of those niche Bengali (Kolkata) restaurants in the San Jose area that I’ve ordered from many times, mostly for delivery, but recently decided to visit for a weekend dinner. We started with Aam Panna, a quintessential Bengali/Indian summertime drink. Traditionally, green mangoes are charred, the pulp is extracted, and then blended into a wonderfully balanced sweet-tangy drink. Here, it was clearly made with a prepared syrup rather than fresh mango, but honestly, it wasn’t bad at all. It was still refreshing and a nice way to kick off the meal. For appetizers, we tried the Calcutta-style fish fry—a breadcrumb-coated fried fish fillet that is a nostalgic classic. The fish wasn’t quite the delicate bhetki you’d traditionally expect, but given that compromise, the preparation itself was pretty decent. For the main course, I ordered the fish thali, while my friend went for the chicken thali. A thali is essentially a complete platter with multiple components, and this one came with steamed rice, dal, jhuri alu bhaja (crispy shredded potatoes), and a simple yet quintessential Bengali vegetable preparation—alu jhinge posto! My parents are visiting from West Bengal and wanted to try the most authentic bengali restaurant in Bay Area. Eden didn’t disappoint! We ordered an array of typical bengali dishes (see pictures) and each one of them was delicious. This was on a weekday for dinner. Service was prompt and our server (though on her 2nd day) was super responsive and friendly. Overall, it was a great experience with seniors and kids!

What an incredible experience! We came with a large group and were blown away from the moment we walked in. The restaurant has been beautifully updated! It’s modern, inviting, spotless, and incredibly aesthetic. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into every detail. The food was outstanding. We tried the Hakka noodles, egg chicken roll, pani puri, popcorn chicken, samosas, Mughlai Malai Boti, BBQ platter, naan, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and chai. Every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The popcorn chicken was a standout, and the BBQ platter was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. What impressed us most was how quickly everything came out despite the variety of dishes we ordered. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and you can tell he takes tremendous pride in both the food and the restaurant itself. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality were reflected in every aspect of the experience. This is the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. Highly recommend!

Really solid Indian food. The butter chicken was creamy and flavorful, and the garlic naan was fresh and soft. Service was friendly and the vibe is pretty relaxed. Would come back.

I ordered Muri Ghonto and Pui Chingri from Lopa di for a house party. I am a picky eater when it comes to traditional Bengali cuisine because that’s the food for my soul. I am happy to say that the guests and I enjoyed both dishes a lot and hope to enjoy more catered food in the future. I only wish they would deliver because parking is hard for a restaurant pickup, especially on weekends. P.S. On days I don’t feel like cooking, I always order their sukto and rui phulkopi. My go-to comfort food.
